Let us just review…
As you remember we took a trip to Atlantic City on our vacation in June after going home to Rhode Island. When we got to AC it closed! Remember the whole budget crisis in New Jersey? Well, the EXACT day we show up the casino and hotel closed for 4 days – the entire city shut down when I showed up.
So, today my mother and I were planning on going to Cherokee Casino in NC. She takes me once or twice a year for mother daughter bonding time, and gives me all her bonus money that accrues over the year that she gets. So, its like $400.00. I planned on gambling $100.00 and sneaking home with the rest :)
My mother gives me a ring this morning and says “I think you are a jinx”. I was a bit perplexed and asked her why. Now GET THIS!
The casino/hotel/city of Cherokee is CLOSED!! Honest to God! They have a water contamination thing going on in Cherokee in which they have absolutely no water because of a gas leak into the water supply. So, again, I go to AC and the casinos close. We plan on going to Cherokee, and the casino is closed.
Does anyone think this is an omen to stop gambling?
Damn, I didn’t even want to gamble, with the situation that I am in, I needed that $300.00! So, now I don’t get the free money, I don’t get the free dinner/lunch/breakfast that she would have gotten me – Do you know what I would have done to eat good food for 3 days??
Gosh, I was looking forward to my free getaway this weekend :( We were going to take Matthew (they have babysitting services there, thank goodness!) We were going to go swimming in the indoor pool, it was just going to be a really good time.
Well, the upside is I had told my job about this weekend before I started, so at least I still have the day off from work!

Wow! That is amazing to have two (24/7) casinos close on you. It’s almost unheard of! Better luck next time, just give me a warning when you are heading to AC again, so I can plan my trip on another day!
P.S. great blog design!
wow. that is nuts. yea they shut things down here. it was so stupid. if they learned to spend money more wisely (and it will never happen) it wouldnt have needed to be done. these people are idiots. i doubt your a jinx. but it does suck that it happened that way.
It think that’s a sign that they were going to take all of your money!
LOL! That is too funny. I’d say, yeah, you are a jinx.
LOL!!!!
Oh my gosh. I thought that kind of extreme bad luck didn’t happen to anyone else but me. LOL.
I’ve only been to one casino up in Conneticut called Mohegansun and it’s fantastic. If you get up that way – check it out. Hopefully it won’t close on you. LOL.
Your template is gorgeous.
Momish – I know it!!! The odds must be like 1 trillion to none – hey… maybe I should gamble ;)
Fickle – I agree, lol
Tracy – LOL, I really am
Tee – I used to live an hour away so I have been to Mohegan and Foxwoods MANY MANY times, lol… but at least it was always open!!
What a small freakin world? I just stumbled on to your blog and what do I see?
We were planning on going up to Cherokee this weekend too (we go at least once a month). I’m even all packed and ready to go. Crazy!
Just so you know. The casino itself is still open. They have porta-pottys…what fun.
Let me know when you go again, maybe we can meet up somewhere?
Wow! I like this template so much more! Congrats!
I think your life is interesting so why dont you put you tittle as ‘My life as interesting as it can be’? Hehe..just a suggestion..
Been reading your blog via BOTB.
That’s really too bad, but maybe you should consider the whole jinx aspect…maybe next time you should just sneak there so nothing bad has time to happen beforehand.
bummer shug — Mom and Dad went a couple of weeks ago — Squeak likes to tube the river — NO GO! — they came back early cause the place is a mess — but the casinos are up and slammin’ — just don’t travel the parkway Erin — there’s detours that take hours to navigate because of the hurricanes last year — win one for me –
huggin’ you
Just an FYI. The casino in Cherokee is open (but you have to pee outside – porta potties…lol), but the hotels/restaruants are not (no water). But, you can stay in Maggie Valley (over the mountain) for pretty reasonable rates. How do I know this? I used to live in Maggie and my Mom works at the Casino :) So go on, have fun. Stay in Maggie and drive over!
God I sound like an advertisement! HAHA!
