Just a little something to help the environment

I’m a water drinker… besides unsweetened ice tea it is the only thing I drink. So, I probably go through about 50 bottles of water a week – the 16.9 ounce ones. I have tried a filter and my water still tastes like absolute crap so I have no other choice other than buy gallons. But let’s face it, you can’t take those with you in the car, so I have one large 2 1/2 gallon jug for when I’m home and tons of bottles for at night and to go out with.

I’m just starting to recycle these bottles (I know, I know, don’t lecture because I haven’t done this yet… I’ve chastised myself enough) But today I was reading Shape Magazine and I saw a little tidbit about the caps on these bottles of waters and soda caps and stuff. I didn’t know that they end up not being recycled and sometimes end up in the oceans, rivers, and in the mouths of baby seals who eat them. So, basically Aveda (which is a store I love but can’t afford!) is now collecting these caps to recycles them for their own shampoo bottles and stuff. It’s pretty cool actually they have collected a ton so far.

So anyhow, as a tribute to my environment, I’m telling you all about this so that you can help as well! Also, if you bring in at least 25 caps from bottles of water, laundry detergent, facial cleanser, shampoo and other products, you can get a free sample from their hair or body care lines. I’m sure its small but it is still cool.

So, here’s the link to check it out yourself and find stores near you to drop them off.
