My Weekend in Review

It’s seems that every day was super busy and this weekend was no exception…

Starting Friday we went to the pool with a friend and her grandchildren (She is a very young grandmother!), and then from there my mom picked up my son and off they went for a fun filled day of shopping, dinner and playing. As for me, I just sat back and relaxed for the first time that week from 2:30pm on… the freedom of being alone was quite nice :-)

Then I went to the bar and got pretty stinking drunk…. my tolerance level for alcohol is at an all time low because of the fact that 1) I’m on diuretics and 2) I am not drinking nearly as much because I want to save my calories for food rather than beer :-) So after a trip to a second bar where I met a great guy. He was a very tall engineer type was kicked my ass in pool (always a plus when I meet a man!) and he was just generally funny and cute and made good money… the whole package.

He was also married :( So, we said goodnight and I went home (no, I wasn’t driving, I had someone else drive me home!)

Saturday, slept in, drove 50 minutes to pick up my son and then another 45 minutes to bring him to a birthday party. Drove 35 minutes to my friends house before driving to yet another pool where we let the kids play for hours while the adults indulged in some great fun playing beer pong! And let me tell you – for my first time playing, I have some skills!! We ended up losing 2 games because my partner wasn’t holding up his end of the partnership, and it didn’t help that the guys we were playing were super good!!! Anyways, back to Amy’s for an all night good time complete with firepit, random friend playing great songs on the guitar, neighbors from across the street coming over at 3am, and some American Idol singing to round out the night. I swear, that house is like the best party house EVER without even ever having a “party” so to speak… people just end up over there. You can’t get any better than that!

Yesterday I recuperated while working and sleeping, and now it’s Monday.

So far I have brought my son to swimming lessons, gone to lunch, gone to the doctor, driven home where I’m going to finish some work and head back to the gym for 1) nutrition appoint with the dietitian 2) Personal Training 3) Yogalates class (half yoga, half pilates)

I’m so freaking tired I can’t even tell you.

Damn, this was one of the most boring posts in a long time.. I’m so not humorous anymore, lol.

FIVE MORE DAYS TILL MYRTLE BEACH!!!! I’m going to need this vacation :-)

And here we are again…

Another Monday, another weekend past… it just goes so quickly! Not that my weekend has been much different from my week lately, but it just “seems” different. I guess I never got out of work mode, so that even though I work from home now, Friday comes and I just get so excited! I guess there is just more to do on the weekend, and the fact that I don’t have to wake up and take my son anywhere is always a great thing!

Saturday was a blast… my friend Annette had a jewelry party at the bar that she works at, and I headed over there and met by my friend Amy later on. I totally got sucked into hosting my own jewelry party – because of the free jewelry!! They show you all these nice pieces and then tell you that if you host you will get something for free, and then she gave me more coupons to use on something I wanted to buy, and THEN she gave me this great necklace which I got compliments on all night… it is crazy! So, yours truly is hosting a jewelry party on May 30th – anyone available to come on that day? LOL – I’m kind of serious too! Kate… you live here, we haven’t met yet which is so totally beyond me as to why (I know, busy schedules!) so I’m officially inviting you :-) And let me see… anyone else from around here that wants to come? Because you are all more than welcome, lol. And I won’t even make you buy jewelry!!

Anyhow, after the party was over we just hung at the bar (for the next 9 hours!!) and of course drank, talked and generally had a great time! Of course, I’m speaking for myself :-) Seriously, we had only done the all day bar thing once before with her, and it is always entertaining, lol. That fact that neither of us has thrown up by the end of the night is always impressive to me… With 4 pitchers, 3 shots (You MUST get a bitch slap the next time you go out – totally my new favorite shot!), and some single beers in the beginning, it was a definite possibility :-). We had to stop in the middle to eat though, just to make sure ;) But they have the most awesome cheeseburgers… and my friend Vicki was working and her husband came in as well as most of the regulars so all in all, a great night! Then we ended it with a rousing game of Guiness World Records on the Wii… I just love that game. It is a real party game – lots of laughter and tons of fun! Of course it is much harder to do it when you are drunk, but I did manage a National Record in something!

Sunday I just recuperated and didn’t do much of anything. Played some Mario Galaxy with my son and called it a day. Today I’m going on a massive job hunt – it has been real hard. I haven’t found anything that I particularly cared for lately, nor anything that has paid well, so it has been a little discouraging… but I’m not going to let it get me down! So, today it is an all day hunt to find something that I can make some money on… not too much of a challenge (insert sarcasm here)…

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend as well, and here’s to a great week!

Johnson’s No More Tears 50th Anniversary!

Tagged Under : , ,

I’m sure as a baby you don’t really remember using Johnson’s No More Tears shampoo, but I’m pretty sure all of us did. In fact, I know I did because I had the bottle in my shower when I was a kid until I was about 10 years old! So, when I had a baby, I knew that there was no one I would trust more than Johnson’s. When I bought my first shampoo and bath soap for my son I was shocked that they now had an all in one baby bath and shampoo. I just remember thinking that it was THE coolest thing ever! And my son loved it… he never cried when he got a bath, never even cried when he did get it into his eyes – which was a lot considering I was a complete novice with giving baths, lol. I mean, I was REALLY bad  I just never got the hang of it, and for literally the first few months, it would never fail – the shampoo and soap would inevitably slide down his head and into his eyes. That is how I found out that Johnson’s really did mean it when they said “no more tears” because there wasn’t.

Now Johnson’s is celebrating their 50th anniversary of their trademark No More Tears – one that is well deserved to say the least! Thanks to Mom Central I am proud to take part in it, and not only share my personal experiences with it, but to share some of their wonderful new products with you.

First we have the wonderful JOHNSON’S® BABY BUBBLE BATH & WASH
Mom Central allowed us to try out two of the Johnson’s products and this is again, a wonderful product. I knew my son would love this because as you may remember from some of the pictures of past bubble baths, he is completely addicted. BUT he can’t stand when the bubble bath gets in his eyes and immediately starts screaming. It is really the reason he sometimes he passes up bubble baths for showers, because he just doesn’t want to deal with. Now that we have started using Johnson’s Baby Bubble Bath & Wash he is again a fan of the bubble bath! Here is what Johnson’s has to say about it:

For years, JOHNSON’S® Baby products have been formulated to properly care for babies’ delicate skin. Now JOHNSON’S® is introducing Baby Bubble Bath & Wash for a fun and safe bath time experience. JOHNSON’S® Baby Bubble Bath & Wash contains an all-new formula combining the NO MORE TEARS® extra gentle baby wash formula with big, bath time bubbles. The new, dermatologist- and pediatrician-tested formula is gentle enough to use everyday and is clinically proven mild for both baby girls and boys.

Grounded in extensive scientific research, the NO MORE TEARS® formula found in JOHNSON’S® Baby Bubble Bath & Wash is ultra mild, resulting in a gentle cleansing product specially designed for baby’s unique skin, hair and eye needs. JOHNSON’S® Baby Bubble Bath & Wash is soap-free, dye-free, hypoallergenic, dermatologist and pediatrician tested, and is gentle enough for the newest babies.

Then we have the equally wonderful JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE® FOAMING WASH

JOHNSON’S® introduces a new HEAD-TO-TOE® Foaming Wash in an easy, convenient pump-and-foam form. The specially designed bottle allows moms and caregivers the flexibility of using only one hand to dispense the product while also providing substantial lather for cleansing babies. This new, gentle cleansing product contains mild ingredients and the updated JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TEARS® formula that utilizes new science and technology from JOHNSON’S®.

I started using this one for when he takes showers and he loves it too! It is easy enough for him to dispense his own soap without slipping and falling, dropping the bottle and generally getting frustrated. Now, I can let him take his showers all by himself without worrying that he won’t wash himself well enough. In one word? Awesome!

For more information on any of the Johnson’s Products – including the two mentioned above – Johnson’s has a great YouTube Baby Channel that you can get a lot of great information from! I’m telling you, if you have children, you will be so thrilled with either of these products!!

Additionally, please include in your post a notice that you have been asked to review the products and blog about them on behalf of Mom Central and Johnson’s. We’d also love for you to link to http://www.youtube.com/baby in your post so readers can access more info.

A 50th anniversary logo and pictures of the bubble bath and foaming wash are attached, as are two fact sheets for each of the products to give you a little more information.

As always, if for any reason you don’t feel that you can write a balanced review about Johnson’s, the bubble bath, or the foaming wash, please contact me before posting so we can pass your feedback directly along to the company. And of course don’t hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions along the way.

Looking forward to reading your reviews! Thanks again!

On the Coolness Factor This One is Tops

Tagged Under : , ,

Last night I have to say I had an extremely cool outing. My friend Amy was invited to a brewery opening by a friend of hers who said that she could invite anyone she wanted. It was her friend whose husband owned and ran the brewery. Amy invited me, which of course made me feel so honored :-) So, since it was extremely family friendly, I took my son and met her, her husband and their two kids at the brewery. We walked in, and we were actually in the brewery – like exactly where the beer was being made. SO cool! They had a huge buffet of food set up and immediately handed us a glass for beer. As I look around, I notice the entire system of beer making containers – all so nice and shiny. It was the actual warehouse where all the beer was made, so that just added to the whole cool factor. And then I noticed it….

A wall with 2 beer taps – one for each of the beers they produce. I promptly took my glass over and filled it up. Beer.. out of a wall. Ever-flowing. Awesome. I have to say, I am not more than a general domestic beer girl, but this beer was quite good! I never did figure out exactly what was in it that made it taste so special, but it kind of had a honey wheat apple flavor to it. I tried the darker beer – also known as Deadeye Jack – and it was a little too rich for me. It tasted like coffee, which I don’t drink, but others really loved it. I much preferred Shotgun Betty – a German light beer that went down like water after a few of those!

What I didn’t take into consideration is the alcohol content in them :-) 5.3% for Shotgun Betty and 6.3% for Deadeye Jack. Yeah, I was on my 6th one before I realized that I was quite drunk… although not stupid drunk as someone pointed out – but happily drunk. I mean, the beer was readily available, and it tasted SOOOO good! I got to meet the head brewer Steve (the husband of Amy’s friend) who gave the group of us a private tour of the brewery. It was fascinating how it was all made! The fact that they knew so much about it astounded me, as I was pretty clueless.. but again, fascinated.

I wish I had taken pictures, but considering that I was the guest of the guest I didn’t think it was right of me to be snapping pictures all around… but I really wish I had! It was just the coolest thing,!

Now I know some of you are from my area, so if you are ever in these places I want you to pick up one of the beers from LoneRider Brewery. You gotta help out the local brewers! Plus it just tastes good!!

Contest Alert and More!

Tagged Under : ,

I know you may be wondering what happened at the doctor’s, but honestly there are still a lot of tests to be run and I don’t want to say anything until I know exactly for sure what is going on :-)

But in other good news, there is a contest coming up here tomorrow! Personally, I already got one of my own special gifts, and I happen to love it, lol, so I think you’ll love it too! So, stay tuned… because as you know, you probably have a really good chance of winning! And of course finding out about a new product that I know you will also love :-)

So, the bigger news is – how was your Valentine’s Day and did you have a great time? Mine was definitely nothing special, in fact, one might say it was an ordinary Saturday night, lol…. but I was child free which always makes it just a little more fun ;) I met up with my BFF and her hubby at a local bar near her house and shot some pool. See, nothing special, lol, but a lot of fun. Some old school dance music playing in the background made it extra fun! Friday though we had a great time. Amy and I went to my local bar which I love and met up with a few other friends around the bar and also shot some pool, listened to music and generally got pretty drunk… always a good time in my opinion!

Although I have to say – somewhere through the evening I realized that I not only knew 99% of the people at the bar, I knew them by name, what their significant others names were, where they worked and how many kids they had and even their dogs names… I have become what is known as The Bar Fly. It was pointed out to me that perhaps I go there a little too often, and I think that may be pretty accurate! Everyone who walked through the door came over to give me a hug and say what’s up… and I guess I got to the point where I was like… damn, who don’t I know here? The answer? No one, lol. It made me think that I may have to start curtailing my bar adventures for a while… I think I go out just a little too much! But hey… its fun to go to a bar where everyone REALLY does know your name!

Ageism at its Best

Tagged Under : ,

Ageism is something that I don’t generally care for – unless it happens to me in a good way… then I’m all about loving ageism.

The other day a few of us girls were out for Moms Night Out, a monthly get together where we generally get loud, obnoxious and drunk. Sometimes we get together at people’s homes but this month we got together at a bar. Amy and I sit down and start talking and the server came over. I gave my order for one nice tall glass of beer. She looked at me and asked for my ID. The smile on my face must have been huge because when I gave it to her, she immediately said “Wow.”

For the record, when a server says “Wow” when looking at your ID, it is usually a good thing, but you can never be too sure. But thankfully she did follow that up with a “You definitely don’t look your age.” Immediately I thought, I’m so going to give her a big tip :-) What was so interesting is that she really thought I was worth carding – a prejudice if you will. She assumed I would be at or near the age of 21 – SWEET! Considering that I am 35 years old, this can only be a good thing.

Later on during the night, this young, very attractive girl started talking to me.. I totally was in awe of this girl because she was beautiful, funny, and generally everything I had hoped to be when I was her age (which was 23). I sort of talked her into playing pool because, well, she thought I was awesome and I wanted to instill some of my awesome pool playing into her night. I told her I would teach her how to play a little bit and as we were playing she asked how long I have shot pool. I told her about 20 years, since I was about 15. She just about dropped her pool stick. She looked at me with such shock that I thought she was just humoring me at first. But no, she really didn’t believe I was 35. She immediately said, “I really thought you were like 26 or 27.” Beer goggles I’m sure, but still, I was on cloud 9. In a mere 3 hours, two different people mistook me for someone much younger. Can life really get any better?

It’s all about the hair. I am LOVING the hair.

There ends my egotistical, self loving, can’t be any better than me post for the day :-)
